Family Resources | Week of April 2nd

This month preschoolers are learning that Jesus is alive. This week they will celebrate Palm Sunday when crowds of people lined the road yelling, “Hosannah, hosannah!” as they spread their coats on the road and waved palm branches to honor Jesus.

Lead Their Growth: Cuddle with your child and pray: “God, [name of child] and I want to celebrate Your Son, Jesus, because that’s what Easter is all about. Yay, Jesus!”

This month elementary students are learning about humility, which is putting others first by giving up what you think you deserve. This week, we learned about how Jesus rode on a colt on Palm Sunday and later washed his disciples’ feet (John 12:9-16, John 13: 1-17). The main point was, “Jesus put others first.”

Monthly Verse: “Don’t do anything only to get ahead. Don’t do it because you are proud. Instead, be humble. Value others more than yourselves.” Philippians 2:3 (NIrV)

Lead Their Growth: Ask, “What are some ways Jesus put others first?” Consider making some palms out of construction paper and scissors, writing or drawing ways Jesus put others first on them, and using them as a decoration in this week leading up to Easter.
