Day 21 | Koinonia Contribution

"For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God. By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others."
2 Corinthians 9:12-13 ESV

Koinonia is the fun Greek word (No really, Greek is fun!) we see in Acts 2:42. Scripture says the early church “devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship (koinonia), to the breaking of bread and the prayers”.

We also see this word in 2 Corinthians 9. In verse 13 we read, “They will glorify God because of your submission flowing from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution (koinonia) for them and for all others.”

Our sharing, our fellowship, and our communion is also our contribution. When we are devoted to koinonia, we are devoted to the contribution we provide to each other and to our community.

As we end our three weeks of praying and fasting for a deeper hunger, my prayer is that we would hunger for this koinonia that leads to a Holy Spirit-empowered contribution so much larger than ourselves. Ask God what your contribution for today might look like. What is one small way you can step forward in fellowship and contribution?

And as we end our communal prayer and fasting, I pray that you would consider what pieces of these three weeks you'll take with you. Maybe you'll have one day a month that you fast. Maybe you'll spend an additional 10 minutes in prayer each morning.

Don't just leave these three weeks behind. Take something new and incorporate it into your spiritual journey closer to the heart of Jesus. May we, as the LifeChurch family, journey together closer to Christ and closer to koinonia contribution.

Blessings,
Lydia Long
