Day 19 | Vision and Direction

”And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.”
Acts 2:17-18 ESV
These verses come from Peter’s sermon at Pentecost and he quotes the prophet Joel found in Joel 2:28-29. This week as we look at the theme of a hunger for making a difference something struck me. I often don’t hear about God-given visions and dreams from other people. Yet we see here, God gives visions and dreams for ministry and life to his people. In fact, God promised that when he poured out his Spirit on his people, they would become visionaries and dreamers. His people would proclaim not only what God was doing but also what God intended to do in human history.
Your vision and dreams may not be as grandiose as what we see in those called to church planting or the call to be a missionary. But that does not mean God does not give you a vision and a dream for how he wants to use you to make a difference. Scripture is clear that the Holy Spirit has given you a gift and has a plan for how he wants you to use that gift. God wants to use you and your gifts to make a difference in LifeChurch, in your local community, at your workplace, and maybe in our country and world.
Do you have a vision from God of how he wants to use you? Do you ask God to show you how he has gifted you and how he wants to use those gifts? Do you have a hunger to be used by God more? Do you have a hunger to make a difference? My prayer for you is that God would give you a clear vision of how he wants to use you to make a difference and that he would give you a hunger for that vision.
This is a prayer that you can pray today: “Father, you promise that your people would be visionaries and dreamers. I pray today and ask that you would give me vision and direction for how you want to use me to make a difference. Please give me a hunger to make a greater impact for your kingdom and show me how you want to use me at LifeChurch, in Northern Nevada, in our country, and in this world”
Erwin McManus says, “God has a lot on his mind, and it is through his church that he makes it happen.” I am excited to hear about the hunger and vision God gives you and how I can help you make a difference for the kingdom of God.
I love you church,
