Day 5 | Constant Access To Living Water

A genuine hunger for God comes from God. He puts this hunger inside all of us; it is how He created us. When we are physically hungry, we feed our bodies, and our hunger subsides until we burn the food we have eaten. Then we get hungry again.

Like our physical bodies, we can also load our minds and souls with so many things that are filling and numbing us, so that our hunger for God is muted or even silenced. While we are fasting, I want to encourage you to ask God to give you a hunger for Him, in the same way you are feeling a hunger for food; a hunger only He can satisfy.

I want to conclude this devotional by giving you a passage from John about the woman at the well. She was hearing for the first time that there was a living water that completely satisfied and she was overwhelmed to hear this. “Jesus said to her, ‘Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.’ The woman said to him, ‘Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water.’” (John 4:13-15)

Because of Jesus, we have constant access to this water. I want the same excitement this woman had when learning this! I want this excitement to overcome us! I want us to be hungry for His presence, daily. I am excited to hear testimonies about how hunger for God has increased and how hunger that was gone came back! He is so faithful, I know He will answer these prayers. I am cheering for all of us this week as we respond to that hunger God has ignited in our hearts.

Blessings,
