Family Resources | Week of November 20th

Preschool

This month preschoolers are learning that God is good. This week they see this when they learn about how Aaron and Hur helped Moses. They will learn that they can thank God for family and friends.

Lead Their Growth: While on the go, take turns naming people who are family and friends. Talk about how good God is for giving you so many special people.

Elementary

This month elementary students are learning about having courage– which is doing what’s right even when you’re afraid. This week, we learned about how God protected Daniel in the lion’s den (Daniel 6). The main point was “You can do what’s right because God is with you!”

Monthly Verse: “Be strong and brave. Do not be afraid. Do not lose hope. I am the Lord Your God. I will be with you wherever you go.” - Joshua 1:9 (NIrV)

Lead Their Growth: Ask, “What’s the bravest thing you have ever done?” Consider making a list (or some drawings) of things your family is afraid of. Then work together to make a list (or some drawings) of characteristics of God. Pray and thank God that He is always with us.

Students

This  week,  we'll  explore  God's  mercy  through  the  eyes of Isaiah and Jesus' parable of the unmerciful servant. We know it's hard to let go of unforgiveness. But we can find so much freedom and joy when we do. So when forgiveness is needed, remember God forgave first. Then go and do the same.

Monthly Verse: "I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth." – Job 19:25 (NIV)

Lead Their Growth: You can go over this week's scriptures as a family (Isaiah 12 :1-3; Matthew 18:21-33; Romans 7:18 -19). You can ask a question like, "What's one step you're going to take to either embrace God's forgiveness for you or share it with someone else? And how can we help?" Commit to helping your student with this situation and praying with them about it throughout the week.
