Family Resources | Week of November 13th

Preschool

This month preschoolers are learning that God is good. This week they see this when they learn about Elijah and the widow, and how God provided for them. They will learn that they can thank God for their food.

Lead Their Growth: When you go into your child’s room, say: “Good morning, [Child’s name]! Raise your hand if God made you!”

Elementary

This month elementary students are learning about having courage– which is doing what’s right even when you’re afraid. This week, we learned about how God gave David the courage to defeat the giant Goliath (1 Samuel 16-17). The main point was, “God is with you even when things seem impossible!”

Monthly Verse: “Be strong and brave. Do not be afraid. Do not lose hope. I am the Lord Your God. I will be with you wherever you go.” - Joshua 1:9 (NIrV)

Lead Their Growth: Ask, “What seems impossible to you?” Pray and thank God that nothing is impossible for Him.

Students

This  week,  we'll  see  what  a  psalm  of  David,  Job's declaration of faith, and Jesus' invitation to pray for our enemies all have in common. When it's hard to forgive, shift your perspective. Then watch how God transforms your heart and mind.

Monthly Verse: "I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth." – Job 19:25 (NIV)

Lead Their Growth: You can go over this week's scriptures as a family (Psalm 17:6-7; Job 19:23-25; Matthew 5:43-44; Colossians 3:1-2). Or try asking a question like, "Is there anyone you're struggling to forgive right now? What's making that so difficult for you?" Be open to listening to your student and pray for them to shift their perspective in that situation.
