Family Resources | Week of November 6th

Preschool

This month preschoolers are learning that God is good. This week they see this when they learn about how every good and perfect gift is from God. That is why they can thank God because God is good.

Lead Their Growth: Cuddle with your child and pray: “God, when we look at the world You made, it is easy to see that You are good. Thank you for … (name things in creation you are thankful for).”

Elementary

This month elementary students are learning about having courage – which is doing what’s right even when you’re afraid. This week, we learned about how God gave Joshua and Caleb courage as they explored the Promised Land (Numbers 13-14). The main point was, “God is with you even when you’re afraid!”

Monthly Verse: “Be strong and brave. Do not be afraid. Do not lose hope. I am the Lord Your God. I will be with you wherever you go.” - Joshua 1:9 (NIrV)

Lead Their Growth: Ask, “What are people afraid of?” Pray and thank God that He can help us do the right thing when we’re afraid.

Students

This week, we'll examine a psalm of confession, followed by the story of Zacchaeus' repentance. When you need forgiveness, don't just apologize. An apology by itself doesn't fix everything. There's a guy named Zacchaeus in the Bible who learned this. He was a tax collector who stole a lot of money from people in need, but when he met Jesus, all that changed. Jesus' love for him inspired him to make his wrongs right by giving it all back to the people he hurt, and then some. So like Zacchaeus, when you need forgiveness, don't just apologize. Take a step further and make a change

Monthly Verse: "I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth." – Job 19:25 (NIV)

Lead Their Growth: You can go over this week's scriptures as a family (Psalm 32:5; Luke 19:1-10; Proverbs 28:13). Or ask your student questions like, "Who needs 'more than an apology' from you? What are you going to do and how can we help?"
