Family Resources | Week of February 20th

Elementary
This month elementary students are learning to have compassion- caring enough to do something about someone else’s need. This week they see how a young boy gave Jesus his lunch, and how Jesus used what the boy had to help others as he fed the 5,000.

Monthly Verse: “The Lord has shown you what is good. He has told you what he requires of you. You must act with justice. You must love to show mercy. And you must be humble as you live in the sight of your God.” Micah 6:8, NIrV

Preschool
Lead their growth: What do you have that can help others? Help your child think of how they can use what they have to help others, like making an encouraging card for a friend, baking cookies for a neighbor, or giving some snacks to someone experiencing homelessness!

This month preschoolers are learning that Jesus loves everyone. This week they see this when Jesus meets Zacchaeus and tells him that he wants to go to his house. Jesus loves people even when they do something wrong.

Lead their growth: Cuddle with your child and pray: “God, Thank You for sending Jesus to show us that you love us even when we do something wrong.”

Youth
This week, we'll see the conclusion of Joseph's story
as he reconciles with his brothers and rescues his family from starvation. Our big idea is that God’s justice restores what is broken. For Scriptures to go over as a family, we recommend looking at Genesis 45:1-8, 50:15-20; Luke 6:27-
38; Romans 12:17-21. For further discussion with your student, ask them about a situation in their life that feels broken and needs to be restored? Or talk about how your family can take a step in forgiveness and if there are things that need to be forgiven and made right in your family.
